REVIEW – Kraft: Stove Top Cornbread Stuffing Mix
We have been using Stove Top Cornbread Stuffing Mix to make stuffing to go with our turkey dinners for the past three years or so. The taste of the stuffing is a balance of the sweet cornbread and salt (it's a little more on the salty side), but it still makes for a pretty good stuffing every time. It isn't too mushy or too dry, and there is no weird texture.
Tips for making the Stove Top stuffing (using the microwave):
We usually follow the microwave instructions for microwaving the Stove Top stuffing, except we use less butter. The recipe directions on the box state to use 4 Tbsp. of butter, but we usually only use one tablespoon of butter.
If you are wondering if you should use salted or unsalted butter.... do not use salted butter! (Unless maybe you love extremely salty food..) We accidentally used salted butter to make the Stove Top stuffing once and it was way too salty. It was like eating bread with a heap of salt on it. We couldn't eat it and had to throw it away. Now we know to pay attention and make sure to always use unsalted butter.
When adding the butter in, shave the butter into pieces and distribute the pieces over the stuffing.
After microwaving the stuffing, the plastic wrap poofs up -- be careful not to burn yourself with the steam!
By transferring the stuffing into a different bowl after microwaving it, you don't have to fluff it with a fork!
