Slice of Carvel Ice Cream Cake

I had a coupon that expired at the end of January for a Carvel ice cream cake, so I decided to use it at Fry's (Kroger). The ice cream cake I got was just one of their smaller, ordinary cakes (not a holiday or football themed one). The directions on the box state to thaw the cake in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes after being frozen, but I ate it without thawing it since I prefer harder ice cream.

The whipped icing on top was lighter than some icings/frostings, and it isn't too sweet. The vanilla layer of the cake also didn't have an overwhelmingly rich vanilla flavor. The chocolate part tasted just like chocolate ice cream and had some crumbly bits, however, the bottom chocolate layer of the cake did melt quickly. The cake was a nice, delicious treat.

Bag of Foster Farms Tequila Lime Wings
Plate of Foster Farms Tequila Lime Wings

I decided to try the frozen Foster Farms Tequila Lime Chicken Wings from Costco as a quick, microwavable food to have on hand. They were pretty easy to warm up - the directions state to microwave 8 wings on high for 7-9 minutes from frozen (basically 1 minute per chicken wing), so I microwaved 6 wings for 6 minutes.

The Tequila Lime Chicken Wings tasted pretty good. They had a faint citrus lime taste, but the dominant flavor is a savory, almost peppery taste. I have never had tequila, but maybe the pepper taste is from the tequila? The chicken wings were also a little bit sticky from the glaze, but not super sticky like honey BBQ wings, and they also weren't super saucy like buffalo wings.

Overall, it's a nicely balanced chicken snack.

Bag of Trader Joe's Penne Pepperonata
Trader Joe's Penne Pepperonata

I tried some of the frozen Penne Pepperonata pasta from Trader Joe's. For preparation, I just followed the microwave instructions on the back, and I added shredded Parmesan cheese to it after microwaving.

This pasta looks very similar to the Trader Joe's Penne Arrabbiata pasta, however, it is a lot sweeter. I like bell peppers, but the amount of red and yellow peppers seemed a little too heavy and made it a little too sweet for me. Even the Parmesan cheese I added didn't counteract the sweetness very much.

The bag also says the sauce is a red pepper cream sauce, but the sauce was thin and not very creamy. Although it was a little too sweet, that didn't stop me from eating it all up... I was super hungry when I tried this and was able to eat the whole bag in one sitting!

Overall, I like Trader Joe's Penne Arrabbiata better, but this pasta was still good.
